The other thing is that on most of my guitars (both nylon and steel) the G string is a funny animal, never seems to balance in with the others. It might not be so much getting too much of a workout, it might just be the G on your guitar. Does it get like that on other guitars you've played?

I'm sure that an electric string for the G would be okay if you can't find a string set that suits you, but you need to do some tension research. I reckon so long as the tension of the wound G and the tension of the solid G are roughly the same (at tune), the guitar won't care. Tensions are sometimes quoted by manufacturers - maybe look up across some different ones and see what you can find. The tone might be excessively different though, it will require some experimentation!

I've only ever played with strings as a set from a manufacturer - I've never mixed'n'matched.

Good luck in your mission!

JAWJAWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07318003562454008338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2140232930378188483.post-20364733063456365102011-09-15T03:55:54.840+08:002011-09-15T03:55:54.840+08:00I have a question I wanted to ask but I really did...I have a question I wanted to ask but I really didn't know where to ask it.

I play an acoustic cutout with Martin 80/20 bronze and I basically play it like a traditional electric so I play alot of bends. on the high E & B strings that arent bronze wound I don't really have a problem but my G string pretty much gets cut to hell. I mean before long it literally is cut into sections about a fret or 2 long.

This doesn't actually bother me from a playing perspective but the end result is the G String is very dull and has almost no sustain at all. Is there a set of strings that only have bronze wound for the EAD and not the rest? Could I use an electric string for the G or would that mess with the neck? Or should I just buy a ton of G strings?

Just looking for feedback thanks alot for your posts they have helped me alot.David Creightonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09653413752837924369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2140232930378188483.post-80181832250410726422011-09-08T20:20:40.990+08:002011-09-08T20:20:40.990+08:00Lefty - got a message from the man himself - no, t...Lefty - got a message from the man himself - no, that's not his new guitar. It's quite a cheap(500 eur) instrument to make a living. I mean it's a primary "working tool" for him, who plays hours every day.
The bottom line, it must be a great instrument for a low price, if a pro like him chose it!
I can't wait to hear it sing :)

LeftyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
