The base notes on the Esteve have a nice sound though. GPT is pretty clever, for sure. It still has a lot of holes in it's game. I've chatted with it several times. Even used it to help debug some software I was writing. In one instance it worked and another it suggested a change that just made no sense. Perhaps it was just too genius for my small brain to understand, but it seemed simply absurd.
It's a fun tool, though. It's kinda taking the place of google for me when it comes to very specific, technical questions I need a quick dirty answer to.
I wonder if it could transcribe a song into fingerstyle. I doubt it could output it in a convenient form, but it seems within it's reach.
Ryanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14331313770481410555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2140232930378188483.post-68176591749047973552023-03-26T09:18:39.115+08:002023-03-26T09:18:39.115+08:00Good news! If we were to put all audio clips through a spectral analysis - I reckon the Esteve would be the most balanced sonically. But that doesn't mean it is the most appealing! And interesting idea though - I'll have to see if I can find some software to run these audio clips through!JAWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07318003562454008338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2140232930378188483.post-68742760595006928752022-04-10T19:34:17.683+08:002022-04-10T19:34:17.683+08:00Out of those 3, the Yamaha sounds the most balance...Out of those 3, the Yamaha sounds the most balanced.leocearahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02202504154750640863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2140232930378188483.post-78584502622781579392022-01-08T09:52:45.010+08:002022-01-08T09:52:45.010+08:00Ah, great question, I should have covered that! Zo...Ah, great question, I should have covered that! Zoom H1/n mics have a SD card in them, and I let them record directly to that card. You can set them up to record "like a normal mic" if you want, but I prefer to hit record on everything - mics, cameras - so they record to memory cards - and afterwards pull all the files off into multitrack editors where I will resync them and decide what to keep/throw away. This is possibly not the easiest way to do things but it fits into my brain correctly!

Hold me now - has one or two "strange" chord/finger shapes that "aren't natural", but most of the time it flows okay. I always struggled with the bassline 1/16th notes - it is in the recording and pretty important, but my thumb barely moves that fast if you are playing it at normal tempo, so I will get my fingers to play the bass, which is awkward. Easy way out - just play one 1/8th note instead :-)

Thanks for stopping by!JAWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07318003562454008338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2140232930378188483.post-54065296577470063012022-01-08T09:00:35.639+08:002022-01-08T09:00:35.639+08:00Hey Jaw, HNY, excellent vid on recording. I too is an engineer who is somewhat handy with tools. Cutting my third bridge tomorrow. The first two were done using cheap ebay bridges. Now I am ready to use a decent blank..hopefully will make a difference in terms of sound quality.

Next week, I am cutting another one which will be for my cello instead of my son. This one is a Belgium bridge instead of French. Unfortunately there isn't much information available out there. I'm the same. The neck broke off my daughter's cello when the hard case it was in fell over. So rather than taking it to a luthier, it repaired it myself. In the process I noticed the the bridge is significantly bend forward at the height of the heart. My daughter said "that's ok I have a spare" and presented me with a blank. (Not what I was expecting, since I know nothing about cellos). So I too found Sally's article and got inspired. As the fingerboard is slightly crooked on the cello (not due to my repair!), I will have to adjust the leg lengths as she describes. I am very excited to craft the new bridge, I'll send you and her a photo once I'm done.
